Myositis Industry Round table

The MCTC Industry Roundtable is an initiative of the Myositis Clinical Trial Consortium, bringing together MCTC representatives and industry partners. The primary goals of the Roundtable are to enhance patient quality of life and longevity by promoting high-quality clinical trials and improving their efficacy. The Roundtable aims to drive the development and implementation of new treatments for myositis by collaboratively addressing challenges in research, development, and clinical care.

Since its inception, the Industry Roundtable has included corporate members whose representatives participate to both contribute to and benefit from scientific discourse, debate, and knowledge sharing to advance the field of myositis research and development. Additional participants include the MCTC executive team and other MCTC members with expertise in clinical trial design.

The Roundtable convenes biannually, focusing on topics identified by its members as critical needs in the field. Each meeting features an in-depth discussion on one or more key issues in a pre-competitive environment.

The Roundtable may also establish Task Forces or Working Groups to address specific issues facing myositis that are of interest to many member organizations.

Once a topic is selected, the Roundtable Chairs and support staff initiate research on relevant background material. Expert speakers, both from the myositis community and other disciplines, may be invited to set the context for discussions. In addition to industry and MCTC representatives, Roundtable attendees can include clinicians, regulatory experts, and relevant community representatives. The goal of the Roundtable format is to facilitate thorough discussions on developments and challenges, with the aim of identifying actionable pathways forward.

Industry Roundtable members explore a variety of myositis clinical trial topics, including:

  • New data and technologies to improve the diagnosis of myositis, especially in early and mild stages.
  • Genetic factors and biomarkers that enable earlier and more precise myositis diagnosis.
  • Lessons from clinical trial design to inform future trials of drugs aimed at slowing or stopping the progression of myositis.
  • Pros and cons of different outcome measures in clinical trials.
  • Development and validation of new outcome measures.
  • Training and certification of physicians and coordinators in myositis-specific trial methodologies.
  • Methods to enhance recruitment for clinical trials.
  • Expert review of clinical trial protocols to optimize methodology.

Summaries and outcomes of Roundtable meetings are shared on the MCTC website.

Join the Industry Roundtable

We invite companies to collaborate with thought leaders in myositis research by joining the Industry Roundtable. Sponsorship terms are for one year, starting from January 1st to December 31st.

Companies involved in developing products for the treatment or diagnosis of myositis are encouraged to become Roundtable members. Each participating company may select two representatives to attend each meeting and engage in the ongoing work of committees or working groups formed during the Roundtable to carry out specific projects. Members will also participate in selecting topics for future Roundtable discussions.
